As long as they're Self Aligning rockers you're OK. I know guys using 1.6's with the stock cam, and stock springs.

I would be one of those guys. Almost 10k miles on 1.6rr and stock springs, not problems. Hell, I drove the car to Florida with them!

Also do the push rods as well since the old one might have some miles on them.

what are the lift numbers on the stock springs? not that i would want to keep them or anything, but i was curious if they could handle the extra lift that would come along with the 1.7 rr's on a stock cam???

I doubt it, my 1.6s are on stock springs and are close to the limit.

Yeah even with the 1.6rr's you are pushing it. With 1.7's there is no way. Sidewayz did you finally decide on the 1.6's? I'm gonna probably go with the 1.7's. What made you decide on the 1.6? Also if you get Non SA then you need hardened pushrods and guideplates.

The only other parts that you need with Non Sa over the SA's are just the guideplates that i know of. When i found out i had to get more parts to do the NSA rockers i decided on SA's but then i was told that there isn't much to it to install the guideplates at all. Also they are a little better then SA rockers, and not as noisy. Yeah i'm gonna go with the 1.7rr's for now. Later on when i do a cam i'll probably keep the 1.7s because i'm probably gonna go with the 224/230xe, but if not i'll just swap them out for 1.6rr and sell them. At least i will get a little better gain for now.
