Whatever you do, don't get another one off a wrecked F-body. It will just break again.

I bought the Siemens motor from Autozone and paid around $75 for it. It works well and goes up and down faster than the stock one did.

mine made a nice pop then same crunching noises. Sounds like plastic gears getting untoothed. I havent had the doores opened up yet so I dont know where the gears are located. 1 as part of the motor and 1 as part of the regulator asst?

I changed mine. Not hard at all once you've followed the write ups that are available. There is a link with pics and instructions. Just do a search and you will find it. If this site doesn't have it check the other 2 big sites.

Advise: Need two people. One to hold up the HEAVY window and the other to take out the motor. The motor is rivet'ed to a bracket that is attached to the gear. Its makes things much easier if you take out the whole assembly and work on it. Once its out just pop the old on out attach the new one and install back. Otherwise you will be doing it blind because the Motor is behind the door itself. Plus I don't know about you but I don't like to drill what I can't see. Make sure also before you put the trim back to make sure the window goes up and down smoothly(otherwise you are going to be getting yourself a new motor). There is very little supporting this window to guide it and it is very heavy hence why so many motors die. Not a bad design just not the greatest.

I didn't need anyone to help me. You can hold up the window with a board or even a shoe like I did. Goto the above link and it will show you how to do it.

I did my install by myself in about an hour. It really is not hard. I made a walkthrough and it is over at www.metalreviewcentre.com/window.htm

Unfortunately, most of my pictures are offline for the next couple days, but the text is still there. I will have it back up this weekend, but if you need to see the pictures before then, I can put em back online.

You dont need anyone to hold the window up, there is a convenient hole at the top of the door you can shove something into to hold it in place. I used an empty tennis ball can. You can see it in the pictures.
