Yeah, but so are blue bulbs, but they aren't going to affect the PERFORMANCE of a car! When you're referring to how fast a car is STOCK, I think all performance related mods are what need to be counted. Maybe some would disagree, but I don't think a shifter would make a car faster? And besides, the Hurst IS stock, so it doesn't count anyways.

You can't compare a shifter to blue bulbs.

The shifter will help the driver, therefore improving the car's performance. If a guy has trouble with the 2-3 shift on a stock car, then installs a Pro 5.0 or Ripper and can hit it easily afterwards, the car is going to run faster.

Like Pete said though...
It came from the Factory with the Hurst in it so there is no argument there.

But I understand the small debate about a shifter being installed after the fact.

I ran a 13.2 @105.5 with a filter and lid. I think im gonna run it stock soon in cold air since it is broken in now, and try to get the 13.2 on the paper filter. The 98/00 z never broke 13.4 when i ran. What is the fastest auto ls1? No chance at that 6 spds 12.9 either way.

My 02 SS ran the times in sig, with the only SLP option being the dual/dual exaust. Weather was not optimal and the car had roughly 1000 miles on it. On another subject, the Hurst shifter that comes from the factory isn't really a performance option. It has no adjustable stops and is about as useless as the stock shifter. I got it for the fancy "H" shift ****. And for those who wonder, when someone says I got the SLP lid from the factory, it is nothing more than a stock box with the air silencers removed from the sides. Hence SLP's term of "OEM" lid. Any gains? doubtfull.

ok are you asking also comparing A4 and M6 cars--

02 WS.6 100% stock ran a 12.87 (tires where changed to cheap ones for the winter,no better than stock)
02 WS.6 w/ a shifter, catback, Z06 rimsw/ BFG KD's,and a borla catback-12.61
car is a M6 and pulls a 1.88 60' w/ the new wheels

i love it when you guys say 13.5 is average for bone stock. the best time I could get was 14.026 @101mph bone stock. I think you guys must have had a better track, denser air or something. I know my cars not slow, so it must not have been my day. I hope to go this weekend now that its getting a little colder to see the diff.

I ran a 13.89 at 102. something in the 1/4 and that's bone stock with a 2002 M6. From an old fart who can't launch.

You might run 12's with an 02 firehawk but I can't quite get there with mine, low 13's is what I'm running. Of course a firehawk is modded at SLP a little bit but that's the way it comes from the factory brand new.

Track elevation and weather are huge factors. At sealevel tracks in 60 degree weather LS1's probably average l3.2 but in Denver at +3000 they average 14.2 so it is definately track related. Weather affects it alot as well. On 90 degree high humidity days LS1's are all going to run slow but in the fall and spring they fly down the track.

When someone says LS1's run mid 13's stock they usually are talking about prime condidtions such as within 1000 feet of sealevel, under 80 degrees, low humidity and a 2.1 or better 60' time.

I feel your pain. My car ran about the same last year as well (14.008 was the absolute best it was gonna do ) at about 101 mph. It was still cutting 2.1 - 2.2 60' times though, which is what I've been running this year, except somehow the car decided to "wake up" a little more and start running consistant mid-13's @ 104 - 106. I think it's probably fair to say that the "average" is somewhere in the mid-13's, but low 14's aren't unheard of either...........they're just less common as are high 12's.

I showed them all I could from... paper filter, silencer and lid still intact, muffler underneath stocker etc...
Then they looked in and saw the "H" on the shifter **** and they said... AhHa ! your not stock if you put a hurst shifter in it.
They wouldnt beleive that the car came with the Hurst package from the factory.

They are in denial ..........LOL
