whats the fastest STOCK fbody LS1 time any has gotten?
I saw a bone stock Z28 do 12.9 once. I'm sure someone has done better though but anything in the 12's is very rare for bone-stock that isn't a slp option ss or firehawk (they have an unfair advantage of catback and lid).
It was a 2002 M6 and obviously he knew how to drive. I think the record is closer to 12.5 but I have no idea if that is true or rumor. Average stock ls1's run 13.5 so hitting 12's is friggin awesome for no mods.
Beware of what some people consider stock. I had a guy tell me his ls1 was stock and I later found out it had lid, hooker aerochamber muffler and Nitto DR in the back. Not that those are huge power adders but still to be stock to me means just the way it was when it rolled out of the factory, tires and all.

I saw a 12.9 pass so I know that is possible but it's rare, usually only done in a 01 or 02 with ls6 intake, M6 because stock autos with the weak stalls and gears have no chance of 12's IMO and one heck of a launch/shifting.
Still mid to low 13's is pretty awesome too. 12's are just a few bolt-ons and drag radials away for just about any ls1 out there.
I ran mine bone stock and it produced the following times in the sig. There were several Mustang guys there that basically called me a liar when I told them I was stock runnin 8.50s in the 1/8th.
I showed them all I could from... paper filter, silencer and lid still intact, muffler underneath stocker etc...
Then they looked in and saw the "H" on the shifter **** and they said... AhHa ! your not stock if you put a hurst shifter in it.
They wouldnt beleive that the car came with the Hurst package from the factory.

Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords were there in English town along with GM High Tech. Both brought out thier comparison vehicles. The article says that the Camaro was overlooked and the Bullitt (sp?) was surrounded by everyone during the press interviews. Once the Bullitt made a 13.9 something pass all was ok with it, then Evan Smith jumped into the Camaro and rolled it into the 12s and all of a sudden the crowd shifted from the Stang to the Camaro.
The Stang guys were in awe and decided to run the story. Not to mention they are the sister publication to GMHTP.

(EDIT: And I think it was a '99, too. No LS6 intake.)

These are two different cars. The first one was a '99 Z28 and Evan (pretty sure he was the one driving) did get it to go 12.89. The second was the red '01 SS and I know Smith was driving that one. Although the weather was bad (hot), he still managed to get the car down to a 12.94 I believe.
Both of those stories were in GMHTP...MM&FF might have published a little side-story in their mag but I guarantee they didn't dedicate a whole 4-5 pages to an F-body.
Also, no doubt Evan Smith is one helluva good driver but just remember that when they (magazines) test these cars, they've usually rented the track. That means that they've got awesome prep on every run...and they can let the cars cool down and just pull right up to the burnout box too.
That 12.89 run is quickest that I've ever heard of out of a bone stock LS1...at least the quickest one that I honestly have no doubts about.

.............I understand you want tight shifts and all, but c'mon, it's not in the same category as intake/exhaust/slicks
.................stupid 'Stang owners
