What can cause LS1 Cam Retainer Plate Wear?
Recently over at another Ls1 site few people have been running into cam retainer wear on stock and aftermarket cammed LS1's. Vinci high performance put out a bulletin on it also.

I had my motor let go last year, and I just replaced it with a forged 347 set up. However my cam retainer plate had a bad grove in it, where the cam sprocket was rubbing on it pretty bad. And it seems like 5-10 others on ls1tech were having this problem also.
I just got everything up and running when I discovered this.. I purchased a new retainer plate and cam sprocket from a dealer when I put this motor back together.. however I am at a loss as to what could cause that wear. We checked and the sprocket and retainer plate had plenty of clearance when everything was torqued before we put the front timing cover on again.
Any input is MUCH appreciated, I would hate to lose this motor.
