tuning the Borla exhaust for auto-x

Which plate should I install in my Borla for best power delivery for autocrossing.

I bought this car last year, the guy gave me all three plates. He was running it wide open, and I've noticed the low end torque at wot isn't as strong as I would expect it to be, plus there's a rush of power at about 3K or so.

I'm assuming adding a tuning plate will increase back pressure and therefore torque (?). Question is, which one? Thanks.

BTW - already posted this in the auto-x section...no replies.:blah:

I would leave it all the way open. Don't you usually stay above 3K rpms anyways???

Usually yes, but some courses will through some tight corners or chicanes at you and you need to pull from 2K or so. I've always condsidered auto-x as much of a torque game as a hp game.

I don't know how much a difference the plates make. There's a guy here who runs a 94 Z28, and he told me (when I had my '94) that with the LT1 the middle siized plate seems to work best.

So that's why I'm asking. Plus i thought it was realy intersting in the other post with the link to the dyno results that his car had bigger power gain with the plates than wide open

I had the borla adjustable for awhile, it sounded to much like the flowmaster catback i had prior, with a different humm to it. I didnt notice any difference from the smallest plate to no plate in sound.. To me, the adjustable plates is a sales pitch. I like my SLP Loud mouth so much more. Everyones tatse is sound is different though. I wish i had kept those borla tips, those i miss.

I'm asking about power, not sound. It would seem to reason the smaller dia plate would produce more back presure and therefor more torque, although the above dyno seems to indicate otherwise.
