Torque Converters. Help.

Hi there.

Im seeing alot about Torque Converters and whatnot. I know the general principle behind what they are, but I still don't get why a manual tranny needs one. An auto needs the engine to spin even when the brake is pressed. Okay there. But why the manual? The clutch should take care of that by disconnecting the flywheel from the driveshaft, right?

Anyways. By apparently replacing the stock torque converter in my M6 02 Z28 with a 3500 stall version, I can get some serious stuff done at the track. What does 3500 stall actually mean, and what impact will this mod have on daily driveability?

Thanks guys,

Shawn

If you have a M6 manual transmission, YOU DO NOT HAVE A TORQUE CONVERTER, only automatics have them.

If there is anyone out there that is telling you that you need one for a manual transmission, THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT.

Welcome to the board Shawn. Torque converters are for the A4 cars only.
