Removing rotor stud in 99TA..help?!
Removing rotor stud in 99TA..help?!
I have a partially stripped stud in my front rotor on my 99TA. I found this when I removed the wheels for the FIRST time after buying the car.
I got the wheel back on just fine, but it makes me nervous about taking it back off again.
I have a show this weekend, and I have to get all the wheels off, clean inside them, fenders, ect. What kind of chance do I stand getting the wheel off, and back on again w/ success w/ that crazy stud????
I bought another stud just in case I have a problem, but wanted to talk to some of you on here that may have had that happen to you.
Can I knocked the stud out while the rotor is on the car??? Or would I have to remove the rotor? If so, HOW hard is it? Are there any instructional pages on it? PLEASE help me, lol I can't stand knowing that I have to take that off, w/ that partially stripped rotor stud. It is like maybe 30-40% stripped from what I remember. I was changing out springs/struts, and it seems, if I remember, someone had put silver/grey antisieze on the threads
of that one stud. I wish I would have known about it before I bought it.
ANYWAY, let me know someone
THANKS SO MUCH!

Any possibility of buying a die, and cleaning up the threads ?
I've done that in the past on a RamCharger 4 X I had, it it was a whole lot easier than trying to disassemble the knuckle ...
Just a thought !

P.S. Compliments of Shoebox
, here is an exploded view that may be of a little help ...
