i actually do have a gps... not in my car but in another... could easily swap for a quick ride...

thing is.... i have no where to safely venture above the 145mph mark

 

The best place, if there is such a thing, is where ever you will not encounter other cars. I think it is ok to risk your life if you want to, or me to risk mine, but it is not alright for me to endanger you, or vice versa.

none that i've found yet tho can be done safely... as in... sidestreets, parking lots, and other places for unexpected traffic/pedestrians to be a complete non-factor


highways are too heavily patroled here to risk that... even if you do a driveby beforehand.. i've tried... and seen a cop coming the other direction as i was accelerating 2 out of 3 times

even in the middle of the night

 

get a valentine radar detector. You'll detect cops on other sides of a hill long before you see them.

and even if they didn't CATCH you on radar/lazer going that fast...

well LT1 owner here not an LS1, but i've got mine up to 138 i think toying with a honda accord v6 one of the new ones... and i could easily pull still

i'd say if i had her running good she'd promise me high 150's if not more... i had my 1998 camery up to 140 and she was still pulling ok with 100 less hp then the lt1

 

Cup cars run 195 with 450 hp. The plates cut the from 700+ to about 450.

Did anyone read what I wrote. A LPE 383 LT1 Formula went 192 in June 1995. M6 with 3.23 gears.

 

with 3.23 gears, he would have run out of gear in 5th and been unable to pull 6th.

 

In my '97 Z28, I was able to reach ~ 169-170 mph (6100 RPM in 5th gear, 3.73s) with ~ 330 rwhp (my '97 trapped 111.5 at the time). I buried the speedo and stayed at WOT for, I'd guess, another minute or so. Once I got to 6100 RPM, the car wasn't pulling much at all. I was racing my buddy in his '94 Formula who actually passed me at a decent pace (probably 2-3 mph faster) so we figure he was going about 170-172 mph. His car was making ~ 350 rwhp (trapped 112.66). Was a rush, but I would say at that power level we were just about maxxed out. My cutout was closed so I was running through full Flowmaster exhaust (cost me 12 rwhp on the dyno). I'm sure had it been open, I could have hit 170-172 ish but that would have been about it.

 

I saw 200 MPH on a video... So fast that it looked like scenery wasn't passing but being SUCKED in... Close enough for me... People who do that have to be plain iggnorant of fear itself... Could you immagine a slipup at those speeds?

 

I have been 155. I gave out before the car did. Theres no doubt in my mind the cars are capable of 160 stock..

 

For these top out speeds, (manual trans), 5th or 6th gear at the top?

 

5th gear. You won't pull in 6th until you are making well over 600-700 rwhp.

 

what he said. With 4.11 gears and forced induction, 6th gear would take you where you want to go.
