-have the right tools, i forget exactly which ones... sorry
-make sure engine is cool (duh)
-wear long sleeves
-remove stuff thats in the way...coil packs, etc...
-to get more leverage to unscrew the plugs, get a long, hollow handle and place it over the end of your ratchet.
-and yes, take your time.

props to my buddy Rex for showing me how

This will make it cake. Find a tool dealer (Snap-On, MAC, Matco, etc). Buy a 3/8" drive ratchet, in the 3" length. Yes, they make them this sort. Also find a suitable pipe that will fit the end of the ratchet to use as a breaker bar, about 8-10" long and about 1/2" wide.

I'm telling you, it'll take no more than an hour your first time. just watch the plastic tabs holding the cowl weatherstripping on. They have these little sharp bastards that cut the hell outta your hand

OK, WOW, went to the chevy dealer, and order those gaskets (shoudl be in , two days) ..... so I jacked up the car and put them on stands.... went underneath, and no such thing as changing spark plugs from underneath from what I saw ... how do you all you Camaro LS1 folks get the job done? Or do u take it to someone?

Driver's side looks easy .... passenger wha??

on another note, how risky is it to take off a metal type gasket and put it back on?

I am doing the exact same thing right now. I should be finished tomorrow. I'm reusing the AIR gasket that was originaly on there. It should be fine as long as it is not damaged.

rex actually had to scrape the metal gasket off it was on for so long..he used a screwdriver. he also had a spare gasket handy.

i suggest having a spare or two

-another thing: try to find someone who can show you and then videotape it. that's what i did.

now if i could only find that videotape

I broke the job up into a couple of sessions. I spent about 1 1/2 hours one evening after work doing the drivers side plugs and wires. I really didn't have much of a problem with them. The next evening I spent about 2 hours doing the front three passenger side plugs and wires. I had to pull the AIR pip out to get at those plugs. I reused the gasket and have had no problems. I waited until Saturday to do the back passenger plug. I put the car up on ramps and got it from underneath. It took me about an hour to get it replaced. I think that breaking the work up into sections really helped to keep me calm while trying to get the difficult plugs swapped out.

DOH! I screwed up my AIR gaskets somehow. I haven't driven it, but I'm sure it would tick like hell. There is actualy smoke and exhaust I can see coming out of that damn AIR fitting SOB ! I know I didn't mess the gasket up, it must just be shifted a little off or something. At least the plugs are in.

Hey can I use some of that "liquid weld" or "liquid metal" kind of junk as a sort of gasket maker? hmmmm...
