think a buddies got problems... what should this setup be running?
99' Firehawk A4 55k miles
go faster mods:
pacesetter longtubes no emissions (electric cutout on the i-pipe of loudmouth)
TCI 3000 converter (with lockup)
K&N
computer shift kit
Fastchip custom tune
nitto drag radials (1.80X 60")
lid
smooth bellows
FRA
tb bypass
160 stat/manual fans (off during run obviously)
no spare/jack
1/4 tank of fuel (or less)
best before tune/headers/stall was 13.34 at 104mph
no change after tune (probably weather related)
after stall and nittos 60" went down 2.5 10th's consistantly
best after everything except the headers was 13.15 at 101
first run with the headers is gonna be tonight
he had a lean condition that was probably maf related but it was fixxed (set off ses and all) and was running worse times during that problem obviously.
but its still not performing like it should
we thought for sure the stall would get him 12's consistantly... and hes still running consistant 13.3's with the rare 13.1
cars acting fickle.
it also doesn't have good high end power.
when we run togethor, he jumps out on me good from the line... then by the 330 mark hes out front, but not pulling on me... after half track i pull on him and come close to lining back up with him at the trap.
i drove his car and i could FEEL the difference in high end power.
whats the problem here?

if its anything like mine, could need the ls6 intake. what gears does he have? shift points changed? is this with cutout open? if so how does he do with it closed?

thats with cutout open...
his exhaust is pretty free flowing... its just pipe to the tips (no muffler) and the cutout replaced the slp glasspack. so its probably not helping him much... hes gonna have the cutout moved to the collector on the y-pipe soon (if it will fit there)
i also forgot to mention he had a slp y-pipe too
stock gears... i imagine 3:23's like mine
im sure the shift points have been changed some by the tune... but im not sure to what. i don't recall anyway. but if there was a change it was nothing drastic (maybe a few hundred rpm's)

not having an ls6 intake wont SLOW your car down. It might not make all the power its capable of. keep digging because thats slower thatn my car with 120k and a few boltons.

nice improvement with the longtubes...
weather machine was reading 2800ft. (decent for our track, not so good overall tho)
note to those you don't know what track weather machines do... our track's actual elevation is 600ft i believe. thats accounted for weather conditions
best tonight was a 12 (our goal for the summer)... which we were all really excited about... but its still 10'ths away from where it should be i think.
1.86 60"
1/8th = 8.28 @ 84.42
12.98 @ 104.15
where as my car ran:
2.02 60"
1/8th 8.58 @ 84.31
13.28 @ 104.72
i ran right with him all night long... only thing that hes got on me is the lower 60's cause of the stall... my high end might still be a little stronger than his actually.
we're talking a longtubes, stall, tune, intake car
against my intake, open exhaust car.
and hes only beating me with his 60's
a guy with the same mods on a 98' went 12.68 at our track (only difference was his converter was 200rpm higher in stall, and his car was about 100lbs lighter)
its not even mine... but i won't be happy until this car runs a 12.79 the way it is... or at least high 12.8's consistantly.
what should we start checking?

yeah, setup in my sig is not up to par because im not pulling enough air in. its not the only reason but 1 reason why my setup is only putting out 385rwhp, should be higher. cam only cars putting that down.

Now I understand your handle. I would say something is certainly wrong with your combination. There are guys with stock manifolds and cats with stock idle cars (the cheaTR cam) that are making similar power numbers... and they have stock heads, with great economy.
What does your car trap in the quarter?
