Things ive noticed since i bought my 02 WS6

Things ive noticed..bought a 02WS6 couple weeks ago
-A4 3:23 42K on odo all original bone stock black on black

-when put into gear car stumbles down to like 300rpm but never stalls or dies
-car idles at 350 rpm
-at 70 to 75mph there is a vibration on pedal
-throttle cable seems limp and loose
-i can lift the gas pedal up quite a ways
-i have BAD piston slap all the time and it never goes away just gets a little quiter when hot. This is what is weird..it seems to me most prominent at the bottom of each gear around 1K to 2K then dies off above that..weird
-bs factory somewhat mushy shifts when not given gas (need a transgo)
-i thought aluminum was supposed to disapate heat well but my engine stays super hot after hours of shutdown..hotter than my iron LT1!
-i never hear the fans come on
-oil is 45-60 when cruising but 45 when light throttle and tad under 40 when hot idle
-when letting off the gas at somewhat slower speeds the rpm just drops to idle instead of slowly coming down..not done at higher speeds

your concerns or comments are greatly appreciated

btw..my last car was a 94 Z28 LT1 (still have it, its FOR SALE) and it idles and run ssoo much smother than this LS1 even with 101K on it..the WS6 has NO power/torque down low but pulls nicely up high to 6K while my LT1 is a beast on the low end and pulls decent up top..a hate the lack of power the WS6 has down low...i need a 373

thanks for all the comments/concerns guys

try changing your plugs.your rotors might be warped or maybe your ujoints are worn out.

this is what happens when you buy used.

you have nothing major wrong that cant be fixed.

the low idle, stumble, and bad piston slap, makes me think something is wrong/not quite right... There shouldn't be a huge difference btween a LS1 and LT1 lowend.

Re: Things ive noticed since i bought my 02 WS6

My brother-in-law has an 02 WS6 A4 with 35k and his idles real low too. It's even stalled sometimes when he backs up. His has a small amount of piston slap but nothing serious and the one time I drove it the pedal was ok and there was a vibration at higher speeds but one of the wheels had lost a weight and that was the reason for that. His biggest problem has been his headlight on the driver's side. He's brought it back and forth to the dealer because it keeps quiting on him, either staying up or down. The guy has gone through hell with it. Overall the car is very nice.
