thermostat

im looking at 160* thermostats on the net here and some come with a new housing and some dont. whats the point of getting a new housing? do you gotta have it to switch over to a 160* stat?

Re: thermostat

the "older" lsx motors had the housing and the thermostat as a unit. the newer version, corvette and GTO, have the stat separate from the housing. As far as I know, they are interchangeable as long as you have the new housing.

Re: thermostat

Yes, the 2000 is the "old" version. You can spend the 50 or bucks for the cooler stat with the housing for your specific application, or you an pick up the housing for an 04 or newer vetter or GTO (I don't know how much they are) and get the cooler stat which I believed is about 20 bucks or so. It's a matter of how accessible do you want the stat to be.
