do i need to do any programming or a chip to put in a 160 degree thermostat?

 

It's not absolutely necessary, but resetting the fans would help you run cooler in summer traffic where you're not getting good air flow. BTW, unless you have a '98 you won't see any change on your temp gauge...and welcome to the board.
