T-stat question

Ok, I like live in the middle of nowhere....usually about a 100 or close to 200 miles for a weekend road trip to go anywhere where is something to do...anyhoot with that in mind I was looking at putting in a new thermostat. Would this be a good idea for trips like that or should I just leave it stock? Also which would work better for me, 160 or 180 degree? Thnx in advance....

Re: T-stat question

leave the stock one in and just wire up a manual fan switch.

Re: T-stat question

i guess i'm not seeing why you think a lower stat is gonna make a road trip any better?

the stock stat is more than sufficient to keep your car cool and prevent damage....i mean it is the factory design.

now a lower stat will help keep things cooler which can add a little hp.

by the way...stock LS1 stat is 180

some people complain that a 160 made them lose 1 or 2mpg in fuel economy. i'm not sure how founded that is.

i would think if you have to drive a long ways for anything fun, stuff like suspension would be more the ticket. you'll have more fun on any twisties.
