Squeaking noise....

Well,
I am wondering if anything else besides a belt on the LS1 is prone to making a squeaking noise... it sounds a little like a belt, but when I open the hood, the noise from the motor drowns out the sound, so it is hard to locate....

Anyone have any suggestions?

Could be a bearing on the water pump, A/C compressor, or something of the like.

Are you sure it is from the engine bay? I know the spare tire will squeak. Just tighten it up a bit and it will clear it right up. It has happened on a V6 I owned and my Z.

small birds chirping? i had the same birds in my engine, but then they grew up and became mad eagles squawking anytime the car was started. the belts look fine (28,000 miles), still i replaced the serpintine belt and the eagles toned it down a bit, but they are still there. i plan on changing out the accessory belt soon to see if that is the problem.

please let me know if you figure it out.

Its the serpentine belt, replace it, if it still squeaks its probably coolant leaking onto the belt. Check the hose for leaks and the hose clamp. If any coolant gets on that belt, you have to replace it. Putting belt dressing on it will only be a temporary fix.

You will want to get the goodyear gatorback belt from auto zone. This is the belt that doesnt squeak.

Mine squealed WORSE with the gatorback belt. I'm replacing the alternator tomorrow, every other thing on the front of that engine has been replaced. Drives me nuts.
