Seafoam

Anyone in the ls1 section use seafoam. I did a search and came up with a bunch of it in the lt1 section, but nothing here. I was just wondering if anyone with a ls1 has used it or had any experience with it.

Seafoam? Maybe someone can tell me what the heck it is.

*note* It's prlly something extremely obvious that I already know of and now look like a total fool for asking*

never used it, some of my friends have used it on a trubo 240sx Nissan and a Talon TSI and their cars ran smoother with less hesitation on acceleration (they both have around 150,000 miles on them). Keep a video camera handy when you run it through the intake as it makes one helluva smoke show and have somone to rev the car because it will want to die.

girlfriend did it to her 94 formula....seemed to help.
prolly hear it less in the ls1 forum simply because the majority of ls1's ain't got the miles on 'em to really necessitate trying seafoam to help clean out the engine...

The GM Top Engine Cleaner (pretty sure that's what they call it) you can get from the dealer does the same thing in case you have a hard time finding the Seafoam stuff.

Yeah ... I use SeaFoam on my '01 WS6 and my wife's '00 Olds Intrigue. I also used some in my neighbor's '89 Prelude. It's good stuff.

$7 / bottle at NAPA and O'Reiley's. I've seen it at Advance Auto as well. AutoZone no longer carries it.

I suck 2/3 bottle through the brake booster line, then pour the remaining 1/3 into the oil. A full bottle goes in the gas tank. About 3 days later, I change the oil.

never seen it at autozone, but i know it's at napa
used it in my oil, seemed to do a good job and in the fuel, you couldn't tell a difference because well, it's just fuel going thru the engine just cleaning up the injectors and such

just a note, i heard (and reccommend) that you put it in your oil about 500 miles prior to changing it
this allows it to get all of the gunk out
not sure though, rncotton may get all his gunk flushed out in a few days
whatever you feel best with i suppose

I do it on Friday AM before work. I guess it's really 4 days though because I change the oil Monday afternoon after work. But, I get a solid weekend of driving in there before the change.
