So when I go to the track would it be best to use racing fuel or since it's stock just an octane booster?

1 bottle of octane booster raises octane by 1 point. Meaning you need a few bottles in order to raise the octane level by 1.

So filling 1 bottle of octane booster raises octane from 91 octane to 91.3 octane (or something like that).

94 octane is the highest you would want. maybe mix some 100 with 91 (if thats the highest you have there) and that will bring ya upto a nice mix. after 94 octane its useless unless you have dump timing into it or spray

The highest thing availible in California is 91. That is due to California epa rules and the fact that al california gas was using mtbe for a while. At some 76 stations you can find 100 octane for about 5 bucks a gallon.

Beware that some octane booster product, foul your spark plugs, that will cause you to run lean, and generally, run like crap.

yea, akshay is right
1 bottle of octane booster doesnt go from 91 to 92
it is something like .3 or soemwhere near that, imo not worth the money
and i think, as with the lt1 (since they both have high compression), have what they call knock sensors
atleast on the lt1 (i know as a fact, prob should be on ls1 also) that they adjust the settings (like spark tables and such) and adjust to the octane you're running at
which, if you run at 87 you will get worse performance because it is just trying to control pre-detonation (pinging)
my friend runs 87 in his 96 z and doesnt seem to have a problem but i pity the car because it begs for the 93
*my opinion* is to run the highest you got around
91-up should be fine

When I first bought my 1998 Z28, I was putting premuim all the time, then gas prices went up drastically around the time bush became president (Thanks alot Bush and Cheney, Texas Oil refinaries CEO's!!!!) and My pockets were getting small, so I decided to start using regular gasoline and didn't really notice a difference, but then I started losing RACES!!!! To me I didn't feel a difference, but there was a difference because suddenly I was getting smoked by Mustang GT's!!!! So I started using premium again, and even though I felt no difference, I again started winning Races again and I resumed to smoke Mustang GT's like I use to.

So the moral of my story is, even though you might not feel a difference, there is a difference after all. And then there are those who can actually feel the difference.

Octane booster is a crock of crap. As has been briefly mentioned earlier in this thread, rasing your octane "3 points" as described on the bottle, will raise you from 87 to 87.3. If you really want to raise your octane, mix in a gallon of Toluene, which is around 105 octane. Of course, at $7.00 / gallon, it's cheaper to just buy 100 octane race gas at $4.00 / gallon.

Also, beware of the octane booster that comes in the black bottle and labelled "for offroad use only." I ran a bottle through to push my octane up a little (was running 93 and this was supposed to get me to 93.7). I had to change my plugs the next week .... AND I HAD JUST CHANGED THEM THAT WEEK! That crap ruined my plugs. No, it's not an expensive problem, it's just a pain in the *** to replace plugs 2 weeks in a row.

I always use premium...

I feel no reason to ever use the cheap stuff..

What you are paying for in the higher grades and in the name brands are detergents..

Do they help? I think so..
I have been using them since 1992 and dont see myself stopping.
