Rear hatch sensor

I need to deactivate the latch sensor in the rear so the lights don't come on when the hatch is opened. Anyone know how to do that?

When you look in the trunk you will a a black switch that when the trunk closes is pressed down. When the hatch is closed the switch gets pushed down and breaks the circut. Find the wires coming out of the switch and cut on of them. then cap the wire with electrical tap or a wire nut. Keep in mind i'm not sure how this will effect the rest of the lights in the car. However the light will no longer come on whenyou open the trunk. An easier way would be to find a way to bend the black arm on the switch so that it is always breaking the circut and does not come into contact with the hatch.

that only gets me 1/2 way there. If that switch is depressed the light does not go off. There must be a secondary switch in the latch mechanism that is designed to work in conjunction with the other sensor switch.

In my car the switch seems to have to levels. If i put the switch down half way the light will blink and then come on again. If you hold the switch all the way down with a screw driver the light goes out. Thats how it works in my car, If you car is different, i cant help you unless you cut the wire.

No thats not normal, well it is par for the course for an f-body. However it should open on the first press. Try lowering the rear stops on the hatch lid. If this does not correct the problem, do a search, If i recall correctly not that long ago there was a rear hatch fix on the board adressing the issue you speak of.

Go to www.InstallUniversity.com and look up the hatch fix. You just piggyback another spring on the factory spring.

I did mine this weekend ... works like a charm.
