To draw more air in. Isn't the shroud there to force air against the radiator?

I heard that you need to remove the panel under the washer bottle to get air forced up into the engine. There is a paramid shape plastic panel with 2 plastic pins that I have thought about removing. Any anybody remove this panel or panels. How would removing just the washer bottle help get moe air in.

I thought abour doing this to my 95 firebird, and removing the two plates clogging the the nostrols, more for cooling purposes. Is it ok to feed the radiator from the front on a bottom breather?

V6toZ28 thanks for the pics. Did you have to cut the panel out or does it just unscrew and pull out? I'm not gonna do it if I have to cut anything. Any cooling issues with this mod? Any chance of water splashing up?

I removed mine as well...but I'm convinced heat soak is a serious issue...that black piece that came with the FIPK gets so hot...I'm rigging a C5 intake to work with my car....

I really don't believe that the heat soak is that serious an issue, Esspecially once you're up to speed, particularly with the !reservior/shroud mod ...

That said it has it does heat up at idle when the car is static, particularly on hot days, 90*+. it can create and impact if you spend too much time moving through the staging lanes.

I've got a guy building me a carbon fiber heat shield. If it works out I may be selling them ... with or with out FRA option ... M

Do you have to cut the washer bottle lower shroud out or does it unscrew? Also isn't the shrouds purpose is to ram air against the radiator? Wouldn't the car overheat by removing the shroud?
