New mods... Cam Specs

Hey everyone. Please help. I've got a 2001 Camaro SS, and I plan to supercharge it with 8# of boost in the near future. I would like to for now get a set of better flowing heads, and a cam that will accomodate my supercharger, while giving me some more horsepower for now. Thanks.

It's not the flow of the 6.0 heads that is the advantage, its the size of the chamber. Stock LS1 compression is 10.1:1, which is too high for high amounts of boost. 6.0 heads have a bigger combustion chamber which lowers the compression, which allows for higher amounts of boost possible without detonation.

And 6.0L heads have the LS6 type exhaust ports.

And as a side note, a stock ls1 with tuning and a good fuel system will handle 8# without any problems at all. I know this for a fact because it's sitting in storage in my back yard with over 30,000 miles on it.

ok, so by lowering the compression before the SC, won't I lose hp? How will that work with 6.0 L Heads, and how much do they usually cost? Do they need to be ported still? Please explain. Thanks.

you will lose a tad bit of HP with the heads but porting is always a nice thing. i think you can pick up stockers for 500 and have em ported for 400. if you got a nice blower cam it will pick ya up a tad N/A and ALOT blown. loose alil now to make a ton later

I'm looking to gain like 30 or 40 to the rear wheels for now. Was hoping I could do that with ported heads and a cam. I can take my current heads off and have them ported without a problem. Thanks.
