gas mileage
I finally found my dreem car and it is 2002 z28 a4 and its a beauty
. It had 7600 miles and I do not think that it had any mods but it appears that it has horrible gas mieadge (12 miles per galon on 89th). Could it be becaise it was not driven for at least 2 month, or I need to show it to a dealer? I hope it is nothing too bad, right

all three B4C's I have owned (auto's) have gotten over 20 mpg. This last one, 2000 got 27 plus on trip back from Denver w/101 k miles and 87 octane fuel used.
When I check my mileage, I fill till not any more can be put in.
(full to top) and then on final fill I do it the same way. I start completely full and check the same way at end.
The 97 constantly got 25 plus.
12 mpg sounds really low!!!

If you're just driving around the city with your foot constantly in it, you'll get bad mileage. The only way to get good milege (>20) out of these cars is to drive them on the highway.
I get over 20 mpg consistantly in town. Best of 30 mpg highway.
That one was on 86 octane too.
Looks like you're still under warranty, so take it in and have them mess with it. There are a lot of things that could cause this from plugged catalytic converters on.

I do a lot of city-type driving, and I usually get about 15-16. I give it a little gas at least once every time I drive. When I really try to get good mileage, I end up getting 19-20. Keep in mind, this is around town with no highway driving. I've also gotten a best of 29 mpg on long trips on the highway.
It sounds obvious, but if you want to squeeze the most out of every last drop, keep your foot out of it at all times. I shift at around 1500-1700 RPMs when I'm trying for the best mileage. I know you have an A4, but those RPM numbers should give you an idea of where the car should be shifting to get decent numbers.

I would definately listen to the advice givin all ready. Top off the tank with 93 octane. Keep the car in OD at all times. Accelerate easy at all times. When you get down to 3/4 of a tank then fill up again and calculate the MPG. If you are under 17 then you definately have something wrong and should get the car checked out.
Good Luck
