Question Is my fuel pump going out?

Okay, here's what happened today. I was leaving work...it's hot here, about 93 deg or so. I started the car...it started sort of weak, but sounded fine. I turned on the A/C and left. Turning on the main road, I stepped a little hard on 1st, and shifted at around 3500 in to 2nd. As I was releasing the clutch, it felt like I was pushing on the brake. Major resistance from the motor, so I stepped on the gas, and nothing happened. The car back fires loud about 6 times, and dies. I push the clutch in and pull over. I turned off the A/C and started. Nothing wrong at all. Started strong, it ran strong the whole way home. This has happened b4 when I start the car, but never while I have been driving.

I am wondering the same thing. Mine does that sometimes, but only when it has been sitting, like int he morning and when I get off work. Dies with little or no power and then fires back up strong. No more problems once It is restarted.

Exactly. Mine seams to do it when I have run the car, and let it sit for about an hour, and then start it. What year is yours??
Anyone who has replaced their fuel pump have the same problems??

It's an '01. I may get the pressure gauge out and check the pressure in the morning. See how it is then.
