Is my ET/MPH normal for stock w/ 2.73

I finally got the Z28 to the track after owning it for a couple of weeks.

Even with the 2.73s I just spun and spun, so there was definitely a learning curve involved with launching. I was only stalling to 1100 or 1200.

So, after three or four runs with 10.0s in the 1/8 (the 1/4 was closed at that point) they finally opened up the 1/4 and I got a decent 60' (the earlier runs were so poor I actually saw a 2.8 or 2.9 60') I pulled a:

13.51 @ 104.48 w/ 2.108 60'

I actually expected to be in the high 13s or god forbid 14s after having a bunch of people tell me that the 2.73s would kill me, but now I'm thinking about keeping them -- I love the cruising RPMs in overdrive.

Anyway, what do you all think of the times?

The car is basically stock, it has a "free ram air" mod (cut the slots out of the air box) and a drop in K&N.

I couldn't spin the tires off the line. I got some crappy 2.0 60 foot times.
Might want to put your sig visible, too.

I remember your time being 13.08, but what was the mph?

That's not bad at all for a stock car. That's just about the norm.

Get that 60' down to a 1.9-2.0 and you're looking at 13.2-13.3 not bad at all.

If you want to give your car that little extra and keep your 2.73s, I'd look at going with a stall converter.

Those are very good times
As you can see, i haven't been so lucky.

For a car with 2.73s, sounds like you got a factory freak.

If you want to stick with those gears, get the basic mods BEFORE going to a stall converter. Headers, catback, ram air, etc....
the automatic tranny can handle a modified car with lots of power. Try stalling at 1800-2200 rpm. You might get a better launch.

13.51 @ 104.48 w/ 2.108 60' is pretty good! I ran the time in my sig two weeks ago, but last year I only ran an embarrassing 14.008 @ 102.99?! 13.5's is pretty much where these cars are running, give or take.

Why would you say that??
A converter will give the most results for the money spent, period.

well if you ask me i'd have to tell you that the guy is like most ls-1 owners, he's having trouble with traction off the line and knowing that he wouldn't benifit from a torque converter at all if anything it would hurt his time because he'd be spinning off the line even more than what he is now.

A converter may give you good times, but it is a very involved installation. Also, a LOT can go wrong with a torque converter. Check the thread "2.73s and converter" i think thats the title. Read it, you'll see why i think that.

Are you talking about me? Or the originator of the thread?

Best I could manage was a 2.01 60' and a 13.44 with the 2.73's

yes i was refering to you as i saw that you said you just spun and spun like i did at the track, so if you were to put a higher stall speed torque coneverter in all you'd do is spin more off the line and get a worse time untill you could afford to do something to get you more traction.
