Re: Much needed info.on Porting the LS1 TB

i've been working on that myself.

my dad has a machine shop (where i ported my TB) and i've been trying to pick up some cheap TBs to port and sell using a "core charge" method.

but they are not that cheap. least not for a weekend machinist like me.

besides the porting, i'd be doing the "bump stop" mod to make sure the blade was all the way open

If you would like for me to send you the pics I have them just don't have a way of posting them. send me your e-mail and I will send them to you along with my address so you can ship your TB to me.

mook99TA,

Yes I still want to have this done. the TB looks pretty darn good. I can send it out to you on Monday. So, Do you think you can do it for $40.00 even? I will send you my e-mail address if you can do it at that price. I don't want you to do a rush job but you say you can do it within a day and mail it back to me the next day right? I do want to have the TB ported and the TB bump stop done and maybe I can find someone local to do the polishing job. Thanks!

Hey Mook. I have the same TB. I just take the blade assembly out when I ported it. Then, I marked off the ID of the TB, and cut off the top part of the bar that holds the TB blade in. After that I ground down the screws to match, I reassembled it and that eliminates half the thickness of the TB blade assembly and increases airflow

I will do it for 40 even as long as you add on what it cost for you to ship it to me so that I can ship it back. The porting takes about 5-6 hours so you getting my work pretty cheap. So just add on whatever the shipping cost is and it will be done. Just give me your e-mail address and I will send you my address for shipping. If anyone else wants this done let me know.

i've got a 2.5 hp buffer, i took a smaller cotton buff wheel and cut it to a little smaller than the ID of hte TB and just stuck it in there sideways and applied alot of pressure.

Re: Much needed info.on Porting the LS1 TB

I all depends on how long it takes to get here. Depending on when I get it, it could be back in the mail the same day. I got your pm and sent you one with my address on it. If you know of anyone else that wants one done let me know.
