Much needed info.on Porting the LS1 TB
Re: Much needed info.on Porting the LS1 TB
Take off the lip towards the edge of your TB open it up a little but don't make your idle air holes any bigger. You can also grind down your throttle stop so that your blade will open closer to 90* but don't go to far are you will mess it up there is a way of checking it with a multimeter but I am not sure how. Also grind down the rivits that hold your blade to the middle just enough to smooth it out. Best way that I have found is a carbid bit and a dremel or Die grinder if you have one and then use like 120grit sanding wheels to smooth it out.

I got this off Teke's page... good diagram. I agree with the 120 grit to smoothe it. If you would like to polish also, get some really fine sand paper. 1500-2000 grit and polish the crap out of it....
Just don't take too much off from the closed throttle plate area. I could get a pic of mine tomarrow. There's a small space surrounding the throttle plate at closed.

Re: Much needed info.on Porting the LS1 TB
Does anyone on this board do the porting TB? Is it better to buy like a 80mm BBK,N.W. Ported TB,or send it to GMMG to be ported. I just don't want to mess mines up and plus I don't have all the major tools to port and polish it.
Re: Much needed info.on Porting the LS1 TB
the after market ones are not really worth it.
porting is only worth it since it's so cheap...
here is mine, it was done on a lathe

and here is my description of why it is a benefit:

Re: Much needed info.on Porting the LS1 TB
polishing takes a little while and I am not too good at getting the small spots on the outside but I could port it for you for $50 plus your shipping costs and it should only take me a day to do it. Let me know.
Re: Much needed info.on Porting the LS1 TB
I will send you my TB to be ported as soon as I get your address posted here. Is it a noticeable mod as far as H.P. goes for porting the TB? Do you have anymore pics. of the TB 'cause I've heard of people sending theirs out
TB to be ported and they didn't like the results. I don't know if it was 2 the holes that needed to be epoxyed or what. I just want it to look real nice.

Re: Much needed info.on Porting the LS1 TB
one of the big issues i've seen from people porting thier TB is messing up things by filling in the holes.
i would just remove the front lip and leave it at that.
in all honesty...you'll never feel the hp gains. but there seems to be a noticable increase in part throttle response...as illistrated by my drawing...it allows more air when the blade is slightly open.

I didn't epoxy my idle air holes in I just do as teke says take the lip off, open it up a bit, grind down the throttle bump stop and away she goes. I never noticed a seat in the pants difference but throttle response is a bit better and every little bit counts. Let me know if you want it done. I am very busy for the next two days I have a promotion board for the army but I could get you pictures of mine out to you on thursday or friday and then you can make your dicision if you want.

Re: Much needed info.on Porting the LS1 TB
I'm surprized that no one has a ported TB to sell out-right. Would it be easier that way than to deal with the back and fourth S/H? Does anyone have one for sale or for exchange for the stock TB? Just wondering!
