That I couldn't tell you...

Unfortunately when my car was about 5 months old I learned how F-Bodys respond to rain on the road with a large pile of oil on top of it left from a previous accident half an hour earlier. I ended up getting into a fender bender....While I wasn't ticketed for the accident, my insurance company still had to pay for the damage to the other guys car as well as mine, and of course I had a deductable to pay.

Instead of paying my $500 deductable, I worked out a deal with the bodyshop that they keep the $570 it costs for the GM hood and I supply them with a hood of my own. I believe I paid $695 for my ultra-z hood from SLP.

I would have had to pay $500 either way, so I opted to pay an extra $195 and have that hood painted and installed on my car instead of just paying $500 and getting an OEM hood.

Thank you State Farm.

The Ultra Z hood should have been OEM on the SS, so we could have had the tall airbox and a BGRA type setup.

I love the look of the Ultra Z hood

It gives our cars a much more mean and predatory look. I'm gone to get it one day soon i hope

I have a question about it though... will it help by creating a Ram Air effect??? I have the K&N FIPK in my car and it looks like it'd feed right into the intake.... any other thought on it??

Thanks

Suncoast charges $275 to paint a hood. When I was looking at WS6 hoods I was getting quotes of 200-300 bucks and that was only painting the top of the hood (not both sides).

So figure on $250 at least for the hood to get painted unless you know someone.

Good Luck

there would not be a ram air setup just by getting the hood. You would either have to get a new filter setup or get some type of enclosure like the volant setup or the adapter that allows the WS6 hood to become functional. However you would prob have a small gain from the hood with that filter, not as much as if it were to be sealed though.

That's about as far from being enclosed as possible. Definitely won't work as ram air.

What about the RamAir II hoods? I like the WS6 intake openings on 98+ Camaros, looks functional to me, get the Volant WS6 dual-blue cone setup, I bet that'll work pretty darn good.
