mid-lengths any good??

I want to keep my car quiet, and dont like the noise with the LT setup with OR-Y pipe. Do the mid-length add any HP?? They clean up the engine bay a little for starters. I know best gain is LT headers, but I hate the drone inside the car when you are not in the mood to hear it!

Re: mid-lengths any good??

the actual type of header isn't gonna add the noise. it's the removal of the cats.

there is a slight change in sound...but not much.

LTs with cats will sound fine with the right catback.

but mids are very close to the performance gains of LTs. several recent tests show they are almost the same, with the LTs flowing slightly better in the upper rpm band.

so yes...they will work great.

The thing that hurts the mids most is the 2.5" diameter colloectors and the restictive ball flange.

NO. Nothing that will move your cats will be legal an CA. Actually they're not legal anywhere but most states aren't **** about stuff that won't make a difference on emissions like CA.

Re: mid-lengths any good??

The MAC mids are a great header. No, they will not bolt up to the stock Y pipe and, no, they won't be smog-legal in some states just like LTs. However, on a purely bolt-on car they are a great mod. Mine installed easily from the top, tucked up very nice and had no fitment/banging issues. I had my stock cats welded into the Y as MAC cats suck. If you want to get the most outta the MACs, dremel down the welds and flashing and do "the collector mod". You can get used sets cheap...I sold mine for $270.

If you have to move the cats, they aren't legal.

True but that can easily be changed.
