LS7 in an f-body

Re: LS7 in an f-body
In my little fantasy in my mind, I have a twin-turbo forged-internals 427 with driver-adjustable boost.
Minimal boost for maximum economy, maximum boost for maximum performance. Dial up 400hp or 1000hp, your call.

Re: LS7 in an f-body
Hello Iam a new user and was looking for info one a Ls7 in a 1998-2002 camaro. Then I stumbled on to this site and here was this board on everything I was think really amazing.
I now own a 2006 eclipse GT and when I got this car I loved it and was waiting for aftermarket part for her but none are out and none are coming out soon. + To make it worst the FWD dosen't help for my dream of power.
So I came to the conclusion last week to sell her early next year or maybe sooner. When this happen Iam am probley will get 22k for her since it is the top of the top on what u can get + some rims and a body kit. I was looking at what I should do with that 22k. Went threw many diffrent types of car test driving when I came upon a magazine I think it was this month version of Chevy performance, and here was this Camaro with a Ls6 with 630hp on 93 octane. My Jaw dropped in aww looking at the numbers.
So after lots of time researching I found a crate LS7 13k like all the others. When I read up on it. The engine is so strong. What got me was 7000rpm redline and to beat that it can be adjusted to 8000rpm but with no gain.
So u minus 13k and I end up with around 9-10k, Still dont know what tranny and have found 1998-2002 cameros for around 3-4k. Probley after tranny engine and car. Money will be gone but a few days of work and then come a supercharger and bodykit and then boys I got me a show car. But my question is what tranny and is Ls7 the right pick. beacuse I have never seen a tuned V8 7.0L hit 8000rpm in my life and with turbos at 8000rpm on a 7.0L V8 MONSTER I cant Imagine the numbers

Re: LS7 in an f-body
you would be dumping well over 20k into mechanical parts. the whole point to this thread was how to build a better engine for cheaper. but if your hell bent on doing it, ls1speed.com had a race trans t-56 they claim can take 900hp. but it is 6g's.

I think you're missing the point of having a V8. It's not to do a 2ET-530 or 23J-JJ4 or 23423-JEQ or 123-ABC Japanese-spec engine swap and suddenly gain 20 horsepower and 2000 rpm.

Re: LS7 in an f-body
Well thats how the thread was going I know and Iam not set on a LS7 but for the price can you really do better when for another 5k you have a Monster machine.
Usally when you open your hood and people see a 7.0L LS7 with stock of 500+ they usally are aww struck. That the feeling Iam getting everytime I see a corvette at a show. Well you know most of them have a LS7 but when u see a camaro with one its somthing diffrent and a turbo/SC would be show overkill.
Really I dont have alot of money Just have a 20K somthing car wich I want to sell. Labor is not a problem my friends and I have experiance with motor swaps, Tranny installation I got a mech friend who can do that all and the only money I see for labor is the electrical and cpu and stuff. Dont like touching that would rather I pay a person to do it right. Now also if this takes alot of Fab'ing I might change my mind but couldnt a LS7 get dropped into a camaro?
I would love to know how the new camaro engine coming out shuts-off 4 of its cyclinder. Now if there is a better engine for the price then Ill most likely go for it but the potential of a Ls7 is just to good to pass up.

West of Miami in Naples, The cops here are the most Highly paid in the country but thats only in the city. One part of town celebs live ones steven speilberg, but the rest of town are all people that make ok money but cant afford to live here. Iam 18 and can almost not aford to live here but I go to school here. You'll see lot of nice cars not often but 5 nice cars a day and the 2 lambo, GT500, ferries you'll see usally a week but on weekends there all out and car clubs are out its pretty sweet. In the city you might see a line of nice cars fly by. In other places the car I have now is fast but when you race GTOs here and 2004 corvette( chick driver) nothing really fast enough. And that chick driver laffed at me with my 06 eclipse GT even though she won by 3 I was de-manified, nothing against chick driver but when they say you have a girly car and they the got a Corvette. Its time to realise you need a new car. =( Total Zo6 ive seen in Naples 6 or 7 confirmed ones and about 20 other corvettes I see week.

Re: LS7 in an f-body
So you want something that shows well?
Get yourself an LS1 Trans Am, WS6, or Firehawk (with the high-rise wing, of course). $16K should put you in a nice one, but you may have to drive to get it. It'll be worth it, and pretty fast bone stock.
If you want to win straight-line races against the cars you listed, a few grand in mods will do the trick. And if you want people to gawk when you open the hood, some nice shiny nitrous lines will usually do the trick.

go with robs idea. get the ws6 or an ss. put a blower on it, and polish the hell out of it. that will put you at just over 20k, and i promise you...it will turn heads, and you'll probably get 500hp out of it too.
