LS6 Intake

what all is involved with changing the intake? What all do I have to take apart? Do I have to get anything aligned or tuned after the install?

You have to take the fuel rails off, then the 8? i believe intake bolts and then get the vacumme lines from the back undone to take it of. Then cover the intake ports by the heads with rags or something so nothing gets into the head.
Then you have to get the coolant line that only goes from driver side head to passenger side head. with new gaskets. Because the Ls1 intake has a coolant line that looks like a big H under the intake, and if you try to put that back on with the ls6 it wont work.
good luck!

Its not really that hard if you now how to turn a wrench.
But if the intake doesnt come with that line you gotta order it from a chevy dealership. its like 50 dollars and some change.

Piece of cake install. The only pain is the little tube attached in the back. Basically unbolt the TB, undo the fuel rails and pop them off with the injectors attached, undo the intake bolts and various hoses, install the coolant line shunts and install the intake in reverse. Easy job with average tool skills.

I've heard a few different times that the '01 and '02 Z comes with LS6 heads... does anyone know for sure if this is true or just a rumor?

Wrong.
Some have LS6 blocks but none have the heads.

Do a search. There was a big discussion not long ago.

For what its worth, swapping intake is NOT hard. My first time I was pretty nervous too, but after taking it off and on, by the third time, I was able to get the intake off in less than 20 minutes, swapped the fuel rail and injectors in about 5 minutes, then had the new one back on in another 20 minutes....45 minute job. Just don't break your oil pressure sender!
