To add to this thread, my buddy has a '95 Chevy Beretta with 280,000 miles on original engine, and still runs and sounds just like it did when he bought it new. So I would have to say with technology these days, anything is possible.

that was the magic # I remember as a kid in the sixties,when on most cars they had to have a rebuild because the rings would be shot and valves would need to be cleaned. But that was a long time ago maybe I remember wrong?
