Re: lq4 swap

Hate to boost the competition, but I think this will help:

LTX --> LSX Conversion Sticky - LS1TECH

Still not clear to me why you would opt for a heavy cast iron truck engine (assuming you are using the low $$$ versions available in a bone yard), with a "too tall" intake manifold and a mismatched accessory drive system, when all you really need to do is get an all-aluminum LS1. Drop the LS1 out of the donor car intact - engine, trans, wiring harness, K-member, front suspension, wheels and tires, roll it over to the LT1 shell, and drop the nose of the LT1 over the assembly and bolt everything up. Over-simplified, but you get the idea.

Re: lq4 swap

see now I understand where you are coming from but even if I do go with the 6.0 it's the same as an lt1(cast block aluminum heads) and if I go with a 5.3 which will be all aluminum I will still need all the same stuff as getting a donor car,but getting the donor car is the whole thing. so basically I'm just trying to figure out exactly what I need and where to start ,I do appreciate you reply to my post your help.

Re: lq4 swap

The lq4 is desirable because you can bore it out further than an ls. It is around 150 lbs heavier though.
