It shouldn't void your warranty, it will give you shorter throws. On my 5.0 there was already and extra inch or so of threads, I basically just cut them off and it worked great. BTW I'm not sure if you can do this with a stock one, my hurst **** only uses about 7 threads so I could cut of a lot without a problem.

I've got a 2001 & i love the short stick. Not only does it shorten throws but it also gives you a more positive feel when going through the gears. Takes about 30 min to install.

Def a real nice mod. I absolutely love it on top of the stock hurst. It is angled and i installed it with the angle facing the front of the car so when in 2nd, 4th and 6th it wouldnt be to close to the rear console. Also it gives a better feel for the shifts since the rubber in the stock shifter is gone, makes a nice click as you shift also

Check out the Qwik Stick. It's the same idea, about 2 inches shorter than the stock unit and it doesn't have the rubber in it either. It's different than Lou's in that it's chrome moly, not bent and it's $10 less. Speed Inc. and LM Performance sell them. it works awesome.
