loooking to swap out LS1 for truck based engine

I just traded my snowmobile for a 98 Z28 M6, and was wondering what it would take to swap the LS1 for an escalade 6.0, 6.2 or maybe even an LS2? Are all the accessory holes there for the fbody stuff? will my fbody wiring harnes work? I know i would at least need to get my ECU tuned but thats all i really know for sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

LS2 is the only viable option --- still has a different wiring harness/computer, etc.

Keep the LS1. You can make 600+ horsepower on it with the stock bottom end.

what exactly is the difference in the truck engines that wont work in an fbody? also why wont the ls1 wiring harness work on an ls2 or any of the others?

Everything is different with the truck motors. They are designed for torque, not for horsepower. You'd have to change out the intake amoungst other things to see a comparable difference.

For one thing, the LS2 uses an electronic wireless TB, which is something not incorporated in the LS1 computer --- that's just one thing without getting into specifics of exactly what's needed.

Build up the LS1 or use just the BLOCK of an LS2 or a truck motor and put the LS1 stuff on it to get more cubes. I think you're getting ahead of yourself, though. You can make a ton of power with the LS1 --- if you just got the car, why rule it out just yet? 600+ horsepower not enough?

To go from a stock car to wanting to swap the engine out seems kind of ludicrous.

I was talking short block only, my car is very clean but has 190k highway miles on it. I dont have access to a ls1 but i do have access to tons of ls2's or the 6.0L truck engines from my work along with ls3 heads. I was asking about using a short/long block only, maybe I didnt make that clear. No need to be rude about it. If im looking at building a new engine why stay with a 5.7 when i can build a 6.0+ liter,t here is no replacement for displacement and that will never change. Im not saying for sure im going this route but I wanted the info.

the swap actually isnt hard, call Katech. They can provide you with everything you will need to re use your ls1's ecu and harness. You will likely need a reluctor wheel change, however they can help you with that too.

get a full long block 6.0 from a 2500 gmc truck the newer ones heads flow as good as ls2/6 heads just lower compression from the chamber size differences

dude the shortblock is almost a drop in swap, dont be deterred.

obviously reuse your oil pan, f body pump/pickup and your intake manifold and almost everything else will be bolt/plug in.

i plan on swapping to a very mild cam only 5.3 motor in my future, 340rwhp can be had almost too easy and the engines are pocket change to buy, even with 10-30k miles on them, try that with an almighty ls1...

realise that the 6.0 block weighs about 70 pounds more then your current motor however, that is really the only drawback that i can think of about using the larger engine, the ls2 on the otherhand will require a bit more work to throw in there
