I got a 1999 Z28 this past weekend and I am totally stoked. 99 with 50K miles in GREAT shape, unmolested, bone stock car. The proverbial old lady owned car!!!

Just curious about decoding the VIN and knowing more about it, gears, HP, etc. Always wanted a Camaro and had to wait until my late 30s to get one.

The VIN tells you nothing about that. Look for the RPO codes.

 

If it's a M6 car you will have 3.42.

A4 you will have a 2.73 or 3.23. RPO for 3.23 is GU5. I beleive GU3 is the 2.73 but I'm not 100% sure.

HP probably around 320 with an LS1 intake if it's a good strong motor. The rated power on these cars are a few hp low typically.

You were pretty close! But thr RPO code for a 2.73 gear is G92.

I really just want a nice cruiser, good sound, good runner, do not need to be the fastest car around cannot compete with all that $$$$ some will throw down.
