Try going 70-75 and see if that MPG gets better The speed limits on the highways in NY is 55 or 65 and the highest I have ever seen is 70 (missouri). I can't believe your complaining because a muscle car (that most don't buy with fuel economy in mind) won't get higher then 22mpg when your doing well over the speed limit at ninety miles an hour.

I have an auto with 3.23's and I know at 70mph I am just under 2000 rpm's so the gas mileage at that point is pretty good (about 26 mpg). So my advice is do one of the following.

1). Get the lead out of your foot.
2). Do the A4 to M6 conversion.
3). Sell the A4 and buy an M6.
4). Trade your F-body for an unmodded 4 cyl Honda Civic.

Ok number 4 was a bit extreme but I think the first three would be good solutions. But the following still applies IMO for the A4 vs M6 debate:

A4 > M6 at the drag strip.
A4 > M6 in cities with heavy traffic.
A4 > M6 for anyone who likes to talk on cell phones, eat, drink and smack thier kids while they drive.

M6 > A4 on the highway.
M6 > A4 at the road course.
M6 > A4 on any twisty type country road

well my point was that instead of getting 22MPG I could get 25-30MPG. The interstate I drive on is a outerbelt with hardly any traffic, but I don't go that fast with lots of traffic though. And I have thought about selling the Z28 for a Formula or Trans Am M6

you need to put the crack pipe down...ls1 destroys the lt1 at every rpm

I don't know what this guy is talking about, I've owned both, and the ls1 is just something you have to experience to understand.

i own a 00 ls1, friend has a 98 lt1, both z28s... i pull him off the line, and top-end its as if he isnt even in a camaro... he is 100% stock, i have intake/gutted cats... not much...

and the ***-o-meter also feels faster in the ls1, the lt1 is a BEAST, and easy to make fast, like any v8..... but there is no way ppl can say the lt1 is stronger off the line, when ever i hear ppl say that, it flags a "i dont know what im talking about" flag over their head

Auto's will break faster, but you won't have to worry about it till you get into the 450 RWHP range. The M6 is considered bulletproof by a lot of people. I am pushing over 450 with it and have had no probs. I would definitely recommend a manual. I've owned an LT1 and an LS1 and the LS1 clutch is MUCH easier than the LT1. It feels like a limp noodle, which is why I changed to a Spec Stage 3. IMO, the Stage 3 feels almost identical to my LT1 clutch in my 97.

By the way "Klypto", you just made yourself look like a complete moron.

i have always heard the opposite. i think if you want to do alot of freeway rollons or plan to spend time in stadium parking lots doing road race type events you should buy the M6. if you are looking for light to light or 1/4 mile racing you should stick with the A4 and put in a TC. i have an A4 with a 2500 stall TC and 3.42 gears. i love it for the light to light stuff.
