If an A4 car can pull an M6 car from a roll, LS6 intake or not, then the M6 car needs a tuneup. On L98's, LT1,'s and LS1's, it doesn't matter. Closer ratio gearing, and less driveline hp loss do make a difference, but it's maybe a 2mph trap speed difference. On Mustangs, it's almost night and day.

i dont mean to offend anyone, but if you drive an a4 and you outrun an m6 there is always an excuse. "i missed a gear", "my clutch is slipping", "he didnt know how to drive". you get the point. it is always something. when i started looking for an ls1 car i wanted an m6, but i couldnt find one with low mileage, and if i did it needed a new tranny or a new rear end. so i got a deal on a low mileage a4. sometimes i wish i had a m6, but i am pretty happy with my automatic.

Yes I have both. And as said many many many times before. M6 is more fun for general driving. Absolutely stock for stock they'll take an A4 from a roll. Absolutely stock for stock at the track if the M6 guy is a pro and I don't mean just good I mean a pro then it's a wash. Anybody else in the M6 car is going to get edged out by the A4 because of the ease of launch.
Now throw a good torque converter at the A4 car without any other mods and it'll waste the M6 car with no problems. Standing start, roll it doesn't matter. The 2.5 and better torque multiplication is just plain awesome. But not everyone likes the soft feel of everyday driving with a big converter. The M6 is much more responsive to throttle imputs.
It's all a matter of personal prefrence. Do you want to go to the track a lot? A4. Do you plan on mostly street driving? M6 Your call not ours.

that's ture, but my question was if it would feel all sluggish and slippery even with like 3.73's-4.10's..?
on a 3000-3500 stall?

This is a common misconception, LS-1's actually make just as much torque/hp down low and then some throughout the entire RPM band as LT-1, dyno proven again, and again, and again. The theory of "Lt-1 down low, ls-1 up top" is based solely on the FEEL of the cars, mainly because the LT-1 tends to fall off at higher RPMs, giving the feeling of massive low-end power. Ever driven a stock mustang? They feel fast as hell--but we all know about stock mustangs.

I still had my '95z28 when I got my '98, and I got a chance to race my 98m6 vs. my '95 A4, which had CAI, stall, 3.42 gears, shortys/catted y-pipe, and a borla cat-back. We went from a stop, my friend driving the '95 and me in the m6. Light turns green, he jumps 1/2 a car right away due to the auto and stall, but I caught him while still in 1st gear and never stopped pulling. The '98 was dead stock, including the crappy factory tires.

yes i had a 99 z28 auto with 4.10's and drag radials and now i have a 2000 ss m6
when i had the auto i would say it did launch harder out of the hole than the m6 cause the m6 is harder to really learn how to launch just perfect but i am happier with the m6 they are funner to drive espesially with a beffier exhaust
all around in the 1/4 mile in my experienced opinion autos are quicker than m6's just cause you cant shift quicker than the computer.

Re: Looking forward on buying an LS1, A4 or M6?!!?

Stock for stock, they're pretty close as far as E.T's, but the M6 cars usually have an extra couple of mph in the traps department on the A4's. Usually arises from the A4's being easier to launch and get better 60' times with. nStock for stock, from a roll, M6 should win all day. Now with a good stall (forget gears), it's a different story. Roll or from a dead stop, the A4 should be on top.

I wanted an M6 originally, but found a lower mileaged A4 and jumped on it. I don't regret it at all since i spend a good 2+ hours or so a day average in stop and go traffic. Also figured the wimpy rear end would survive longer with the A4. I've also heard that misshifts on an M6 can lead to bent-pushrods. Figured the A4 would give me less troubles while feeding my need for speed given the proper stall.

Overall, the only single reason why i'd go with an M6 is for the fun/control/feel factor and that's about it. In the end, it comes down to personal preferences since both trannies have their pluses and minuses.

Re: Looking forward on buying an LS1, A4 or M6?!!?

I so regret settling for an auto. It isn't as nearly as fun as a M6. If you are going to be tearing it up at the strip, without a doubt go for the A4. There are all kinds of great, twisty backroads where I live, perfect territory for the M6. The reason I think M6 cars break more often is because of the drivers are really hard on them.

One point nobody has mentioned is gas mileage. I get 22MPG doing 80-90 on the interstate. That sucks because I drive 200 miles on the interstate a week. If I had a M6, I bet it would be more like 25 to 30 MPG.
