Post Lifting car

Hey guy. I just picked up a pair of jack stands, and a hand jack. They came together in a kit. I just picked up my car, and I want to change the oil myself. I don't mean to sound ignorant, but I really don't know much about how to do it 'the right way'. I know I want the car to be level....so what's the best way to do this using the jack, and the two stands....can you do it? Is there a center part under the car that could be used for the jack? Or just the sides?

the best and safest way to do it is to go pick up a second pair of jack stands. They are pretty inexpensive. Then just jack it up and put stands at the 4 corners. There ya go ... car is level and off the ground.

Now, I don't recommend this, but I have done it ... I have supported one end on jack stands and the other end on the jack ... but I kept my body under the end supported by stands. It's not safe, and please don't do it. In fact, forget I mentioned it.

install university has jacking points

Some poeple use something to protect the frame from the jack so they don't get all mangled up.

I have BMR boxed subframe connectors.. Makes a great jacking point!

FOr oil changes, I just jack the driver side up, hold it up with a stand, crawl under and take everthing off. drop the car back on the ground and walk away for 30 mins.. come back, jack the car back up and put it on the stand, put everything back, drop it back on the grond, put oil in it and stuff. done.
