Kinda weak on the bottom end

Well i just got my LS1 its an 01 6speed with 66,000 miles. Im noticing when driving at the lower rpms it kinda acts like my 01 M3 i had. It will not pull hard till the rpms pick up and then it pulls pretty nice in the top end. Its bone stock except for a K&N filter and thats all. basically when im cruising around 1500-2000 rpms and floor it, it will kinda not bog but hardly pull and then once it hits 2500 rpms and higher it will skip cars meaning it will pull hard. I do know its not faster then my 01 SS i had it feels slower but then again my 01 back then had alot less miles. Is the LS1 normally like this, my Maf is clean i just cleaned it and im using 91 octane and the car runs very smooth no hick ups at all.

I certainly don't know because I have an Lt1, but I understand that the Ls engines are typically higher rpm performers. Stock for stock, an Lt1 may pull an Ls1 off the line, however once the they get moving, the Ls1 makes up for it. At least that is how I understand it.

Thanks BUBBA for the advice, when i first drove it i was a bit suprised on how it accelerated. The top end pulls hard but still feels really restricted with the stock lid and exhuast on it now. I think once i put on the SLP lid i ordered and open up the exhuast it will feel better. What do you guys think of putting on a exhuast cut out for now till i order my new exhuast down the road. Its cheap to install it and i have a 3inch cut out sitting at home figured i can pick up a few hp just buy avoiding some of the exhuast going through the stock muffler.

Cut out will definitely help along with the Lid.

Throw some longtubes and a nice catback on and that will wake her up. Give it a full tune up as well (plugs, wires, seafoam, etc...).

4.11 gears if you want in that RPM band sooner.

I wish i didnt do those mods on my LT1 Z28 so i can have money to mod my LS1 but whats done is done. I will definitly put on some LT's and get a tune for sure, looking to get about 330-340 rwhp but thats just a guess and being hopefull that i will with all the bolt ons. Want to go get her on the dyno and see what numbers she pulls being fairly stock.

If you're WOT at 1500-2000 you're in the wrong gear. The only way to get a nice SOTP feel at that RPM is with a turbo diesel, a positive displacement blower, or well over 400 inches - no matter what engine platform.

Yeah, you shouldn't be at WOT till around 4k RPM, at least I never am, and sometimes I won't put it to the floor until 5k.

It is REALLLY bad for your clutch to go high throttle at low RPM too. That is one way to check for a clutch slipping. So at least you know you have a solid clutch!

^^ i actually dont, coming home on the freeway the clutch chattered alot and would get a bit soft as far as the pedal. Ive took it on the freeway just to make sure its not slipping bad and at the lower rpms floored it but the rpms didnt climb up like the way it does when you have a slipping clutch. I bought it like that knowing i would have to change the clutch soon but im ok with it the car so far aint bad. The only other thing i noticed is at idle the oil pressure will go from 35-40 but not always is it normal? not much of an expert when it comes to LS1's.

For a 346 cubic inch motor that seems a little unusual to have lower RPM power.I can't talk because I have never driven an LS1 but if I did own one I would put a 4.10 gears in it.That has to help big with bottom end power.

Under 3k you don't even look at the HP anyhow; just the torque.

Big Cubes
Long Runners
Small Cam

All can be advantageous for Lower RPM power. But we are not driving trucks and pulling things with our "Camaro's".

#1, it's not an LT1

I think that covers it. It is a COMPLETELY different drive.
