Just got me a 99' B4C camaro...

Finally got me an LS1 camaro!!! Its a 99' white B4C with 71,000 miles from N.C., and it seems to be a great car!!! Had to replace the trans mount and new brake pads. Already added a flowmaster 40 series catback with the pipes turning down out of the muffler so you cant tell it's a v-8. Added my chrome 99' SS rims and a k&n filter. I absolutely love it!!!! It will KILL my old camaro from any speed....BADLY!!! Got it for $9400 from a friend who owns his own car lot....How do these cars hold up??? I figure that cops are pretty hard on these cars, but it couldnt be any worse than your average teenager, I wouldnt think....Anyone know how many were made in 99???

Congrats on the new purchase, I just recently acquired an '00 B4C that needed a transmission rebuild. $900 later and I'm running 13.7@102mph in 100 degree heat with a 2.2 60' on bald RSAs. These cars hold up extremely well considering, they are cleaned out regularly (WOT) a lot. Mine has a little piston slap when cold, goes away after warm up though. Don't know about production numbers, but it would be under 1000. These cars are fleet maintained so IMO they see better maintenance than your average used car. If something breaks, it is usually fixed or replaced. Anyways, when you get some runs, let us know what it runs. I'd be interested.

184 Units total were made with the B4C package and only 50 were white autos. 42,098 Camaros were made for the US in '99

Also do you know what department in NC the B4C came from?

So, would a B4C be considered a rare find?? Sounds like it by those numbers. I am not sure what department that it came from, but Im thinking it was a highway patrol car. Still has some documents in the handbook ( two black papers with a lot of small removable stickers). Do these cars have a different tune than a factory Z28??? This thing will spin the tires ten feet when it shifts from 1-2, didnt know if it would have a better tune for the trans to shift so hard??? Shifts way harder than my friends 01' camaro. Runs very good and Im in love with that LS1. Thanks guys for the replies!!

If it came from NCSHP they could have modded the car but it came with the regular tranny and LS1 just like you would buy off of the lot.

Found on the title that it was an unmarked car from the NC highway patrol. I dont know how modde this thing is, but before I bought it, I rode out with the guy I got it from and we outran a 02' LS1 vette, and would pull him at the top of every gear....No BS'ing....seen it myself... He also says that it will take his 04' vette all day long. He drove the B4C for a few months before I bought it. He admits he should have never sold it to me. I've also outran a 99' WS6 m6 with 4.10 gears. He spun pretty good off the line and I pulled a good 3-4 cars to 100. We even talked and he was asking if I had n20.. I know people might disagree, but Im just gonna tell everyone what a tech over at Whitaker chevrolet told me. I have been told that the some unmarked HP cars have a different cam kit in them. Had another Tech at another chevrolet dealership confirm this. One guy said that he had to tear one down and thats how he knew. I dont really know. Ive heard so many different things about these cars. I can say that the converter will stall to about 2200 if you nail it from a standstill. My friends even have LT1 a4's and an 01' SS a4 and niether of those cars stall like mine does. SOMETHINGS different. Could the tune make the trans stall like that... BTW, this car doesnt shift until 6500 in drive, and will hit the rev limiter at about 6600-6700 shifting manually. It has definatlly surprised all of my LS1 bud's. Later guys!!

Ill try my best to get it out to our local track next thursday!!! My old 91' ran a 9.01 at 85 mph with a 2.2 60 ft. , overrevved 2cd gear badly and spun VERY badly through 1st, and this car has already outran old car by about 3 cars on the street. All we have around close to here is an 1/8 mile, so Ill have to guesstimate my 1/4 mile times ( et x 1.57)....Ill be lettin ya know... But no one knows what kinds of mods that th HP would do to these cars??? Just wondering....Thanks for the replys!!!!!

If the car has a different cam than the stock one the NCSHP replaced it with a performance cam which is very possible. Who knows though. Only thing i can tell you is maybe if you have a friend in NCSHP ask them and maybe they can find out.

I agree.Call the HP where you bought it and ask for the number to the service department. They will have records of everything done to the car.If they sent it to a dealer for service then you can get the records from there.Good luck.
