If you have Lou's Short Stick, please come in.

I recently installed a Lou's Short Stick on my M-6 LS1 Camaro SS. I have the factory Hurst shifter that comes on the SS. While the shifting has improved considerably, I seem to be getting more gear rattle and gear noise into the cockpit since the change. Is this normal? The short sick doesn't have the housing and rubber grommet that the regular stick has, so maybe part of the function of that extra material is to deaden sound. Please advise.

You hit the nail on the head. The aftermarket shift sticks remove the bushing and will allow more noise and vibration into the cabin.

Here's what I did .... I went to Lowes and bought a rubber baseboard for $2.50. I cut a square the right size to fit between the shifter and the shift handle. Then I drilled 2 holes to line up with the shift handle.

Sandwich the rubber between the shift handle and the shifter.

yeah that's why, no rubber to make it quiet. It's normal. You get used to it. Infact, I kinda like it. People always ask what they noise is. I explain it to them, and they think it is pretty cool.
