Question I have some ?s about this airbox setup...

http://www.redlinevsix.com/Members/Magic1872/more.htm . Scroll to the bottom of the page, and check out the lid replacement. I have seen that advertised in RKSport.

I've wondered how that would do in the rain. The SLP H.O. hood is functional, so air would get in. But in the rain? Wouldn't water get in to the airbox, then air filters, and destroy the engine? I just want to know out of curiosity, as I know someone with a 2000 SS and was wondering what that kind of airbox would do.

It looks really cool too, IMO

That intake system is made by "Volant". I believe what you are looking at is a V6, the first give away was the top picture that shows the speedometer only going up to 120 MPH., I believe all LT1 & LS1 speedos go to 155.

Here is the link: It is under "Induction"

That is a V-6.
I guess it would work for you, looks kinda silly, I think. Excessive, maybe. As far as water is concerned, though, look at the hood. The baffles are there to STOP water (and they do a good job), so it shouldn't be a concern.

I wouldn't worry about it getting wet. A buddy of mine has the K&N in his car sitting in the same spot and it hasn't gotten wet and its his daily driver.

Thanks for the responces guys, and yes that is a V6. I don't want that intake (it wouldn't work on my 95 anyway.), but I know an LS1 guy who was curious about it too. He made me curious, so I asked you guys about it.

I'd like to email the company and ask them if in fact your engine will get wet.

Put the crack pipe down and step away! Before you start talking smack why don't you get a little info. There are a few bolt-on V6's running low 14's high 13's NA and low-mid 12's with nitrous. That's a damn good ET regardless of how many cylinders you have. Please man, diss ricers and Fords, not your own little brothers

Agree 100%. It's not as bad here as it is at fbody.com. They diss their own quicker than they diss ricers and mustangs. It's a shame.

What exactly are these "baffles" that stop water? Anyone actually own one of these intakes?

My curiosity is still nagging me
