Personally...I would get some DMS springs($190), Bilstein Shocks (unless the car is a WS6 and already has them, $400) Adjustable Panhard Rod ($125) Leftover $85 or so in extra unplanned costs.

depends what you want to do, faster times - converter
more power - headers & true duals

or save up and just get the basics rite now -- lid and ram air

A stall converter is the way to go. I know it can be difficult to decide, especially with so many people saying LT's and ORYpipe. Bottom line: I've went through a lot to get my car where it is now. As around, it's not easy getting into the 11s (let alone my 11.75) with bolt-ons only. Out of all my mods, my stall converter was EASILY the best mod I've ever done. Check around more with auto guys... most would agree that a stall and sticky tires should be your first mods. So yeah, man-up and get a nice stall (no less than 3500)

Yep I ran 12.15 with a lid, SSRA, loudmouth, and a ST3500 Yank with sticky tires.

I have a 2000 M6 Z28 and with a set of DR's, 100shot, 3:73 gear, long tubes/cat back, ported throttle body, and a lid and i ran 11:56. But i also have LS1 edit so i did a bit of tweaking just to get every thing just right but you cant beat NOS and headers!!!! for power and "best bang for your buck" , and if you know some one id recomend you have them tweak your computer, its always a good idea if your sprayin

3000ish rpm stall convertor, or a wet-nitrous kit.

The difference being your car is an M6 and the car in question in an A4. Drive an auto with a nice converter vs the stock converter and you'll know what the difference is. It makes the auto a whole new beast.

Everyone I know that has an A4 and has ran a smaller converter has said that if they had known the difference in the beginning that it would have been their first mod. I know in my 70 it was a night and day difference, even between a 10" and 11" aftermarket converter. But, none of them are auto-Xers either.

Tires! Tires! Tires! Most closely matched races are won or last on takeoff! The better you grab the better the run. Spend a lil over budget and get tires and programmer

No on the programmer.
Some have lost power from them.

But good tires will be a great start, depending on what you have now. Then when you get great traction, you have to wonder how long your 10 bolt is going to hang on.

As fdar as my 10 bolt, I beefed it up with the SLP Girdle, New axles, 3.73's and slp gear install kit. It should be pretty sturdy as long as I don't go heavy on the NOS

Re: How would you spend $700

The girdle will not save it. There is no mod that you can do to beef up the 7.5" 10 bolt enough to be worth spending the cash on.

No less than a 3600 stall. That is where yould should start. My guess is when you see how well it works you will want to bump thta up a little. At 3600 you will have no problems with daily driving. I agree with the tires too. You will still see much better times even on stock tires.

Fuddle makes a nice converter for the money. You may want to look at them as a possiblility. They are a couple hundred cheaper than the other name brands that are out there like Percision Industries and Yank (both who make good converters). Oh yea, you will want a tranny cooler with the converter.

Good Luck!

I'm glad someone got to that before me

I agree. I've got a 3800 and it in NO WAY compromises daily driving. Besides, you get used to it after a while, and you can't even tell it's there. You could be safe all the way up to a 4000 with no worries on the street. And yeah, don't forget about the drag radials. The rear will hold up longer than you might think. It's usually the M6 guys with sticky tires that end up losing their rears. I've had countless 1.5x launches on my rear and it's still holding up (only beefing I did was with a Girdle from Thunderracing)
