Macdaddy's Z

Alright yall I said I would post my plans for my car. As yall already know I am gonna race a gt for cheese this summer. So to yall I come for some ides on what to do. Now I already have some stuff done, and have alot of PLANS. But aint that how it always is? I aint gonna try to go with procharger, cause I just cant afford it this summer. Yall already know whats done to my car, but for those of you who dont here it is....
It has the slp cold air induction pckage. K&N, strut tower brace, the flex elbow has been replaced with a stiff one, better flow I guess. New aftermarket lid. As far as nder the hood thats all. That I know. I have put in royal purple, put in 3.73's, and there was also control arms put on the rear, we call em drag links , so I never get wheel hop! But thats all, stock tires, stock fuel pump, and so on.
Ok I wanna build a 10 second or better car. But I dont really want to lose all my streetability. And as far as doing the cam work and such, Man I aint got the shop and tools and stuff. When I get the cam done is when I will do the heads and all that stuff. As far as now though I was thinkin long tubes, fuel pump, injectors intake MAF, throttle body, nos, direct port and programmer. When I get the cam done then I will drop a few grand in the internals. But that is prolly for next summer. Any ideas will help me alot. Cause I dont now much about the LS1.
THANKS

first, if you want to build a 10 second car "yall" prepare to spent at least $8k to do it right. if you want the 3.73's, save up and buy the 12 bolt with them. waste of money to buy the gears and then buy the rear. dont see many 10 second cars with stock rears, their are some but few.

"yall" mite az well start with parts you will never have to worry about upgrading again, spend the money once, spend it right. doing things that way wont give you a faster car immediately but it will be able to handle the power when you do get it. btw, i didnt follow my own words and my costs are doubled original projections. wish i did get rear and tranny done first, then heads and cam.

last thing "yall" learn to speak and type in english. good luck

I guess I found myself into a grammatically correct website. Where as BOTH of you cats are wrong. Let me start off by saying that"fo reel yo" is what ebonics are all about, even though you spelled real "reel". And actually I was wrong on the yall thing, it is y'all. It is a contraction of 2 words. And if you are going to bash on my grammar, at least do so with proper punctuation and spelling as well! I am from oklahoma, so y'all is a common phrase. I am just looking for help with my car, not my english. What mods, that I have listed as my plans, are not the right way to go? They are all good in my eyes, and as far as I know they are good brands that are quality built..SLP_NOS_CRANECAMS.

Re: Macdaddy's Z

well, is a 10 sec. car a long term goal or are you trying to build it right now? are you keeping the ls1? going to a ls2,6,7? so many variables. some good universal parts are afr heads, or prc stage 2.5 or 3. if you go with a radical cam on a stock ls1, more cubes (rotating assembly, stroker kit, new engine, etc) will mellow the cam down. induction, ssra is a good one. it acts as a cai at lower speeds and a ram air above 55 mph. a lid is a good start. dont waste money on maf, or tb until you have serious work done.i.e h/c, more cubes, forced induction. suspension is key, bilstein shocks, control arms, better torque arm.
get some drag radials. if your an a4, get a better tc, and save money for a tranny rebuild. ls6 intake. so many things you can do to these cars.

SSlither, being from Austin you should know very well that "y'all" didn't start with and isn't about ebonics. I can guarantee that many white sheet wearing fools say "y'all" also.

Mac, if you want to run 10's start with suspsension and tires first. You can make 500 hp but if you can't hook whats the point?
Unfortunately, to run 10's, you're going to lose some drivability.

I advise you to talk to a shop and see what they can offer you. If you're near Tulsa there are a couple of decent shops. Or there was 2 years ago when I lived up there. The local club is TFCC. If OKC area look up COFBA and talk to them about local shops.

Re: Macdaddy's Z

when you post with grammer that we can barely understand what you're asking it makes it that much harder for us to answer your question correctly.

10 secon car....off the top of my head

VRE 382 short block
ported LS6 heads
34x cam
stage 4 clutch
12 bolt rear

so about $10K give or take....depending on labor
