i didnt catch that before. its probably more like a 90lb differance like the aluminum 402 vs the iron 408

Would you care to share your source for the weight of the LSX? All I read (and I can't seem to remember where now) is that it's 200 pounds heavier than the LS7.

Okay, I found it, and I was wrong. January issue of Hot Rod.

Poured from high-tensile cast iron, the LSX bare block mashes the scales at a stout 224 pounds, approximately 100 pounds heavier than the aluminum LS7 case.
