Help me install a kill switch (2000 Z28)

Ok, i have searched the "whole" internet and have only found pictures/write-ups for kill sitches on older 4th gens. I have tried to use these to install either a fuel pump kill switch or starter wire kill switch, none have helped. My car has different color wires and things are in different places then what i have seen.

Can anyone with knowledge about the newer f-bods (2000 would be perfect)help me with a fuel pump or starter kill switch. What wires to cut, where? Anyone that can take pictures of these wires to help me out?

Thanks

I want a button that would have to be pushed once, every time I start the car. If it doesn't get pushed, the fuel pump runs for 1 minute and quits. That way if the car gets stolen, it'll run long enough for them to get away from me, bu then leave them stranded in the middle of the road somewhere.

Hello? It has an alarm!

But if someone gets my keys, there's nothing else you can do. This happened with a fellow local club member's 2002 1LE a couple weeks ago. They waited for him to start his car then pulled up behind him so he couldn't back out of his space. They pulled him out of the car at gun point, pistol whipped him and took his wallet, cell phone and car (with the keys).

a one off cutom fuel cut off switch vs mass produced alarm put into all types of cars?

mass produced = easily defeated

Custom switch under a peice of carpet = 99% undefeatable by someone who knows nothing about it.

If someone wants in your car, they will get in, nothing new. If they want to steal your car, we have the pas key to help us, alarm can be defeated easily because mass production, custom switch=even better. The only other way for them to get your car = tow truck, and if they are that determined they will take anything they want. Once they get it off the tow truck they will still have to start it, switch to fuel pump turned off = no start. They will have to research and search for where the wire was cut = tons of time.

Back to original post question.

Ignition switches don't necesarilly work the same way on our cars because the pass key (my understanding). And what i want is a switch, what wire i cut into doesn't make it any harder.

How about just pull the gauge fuse every time and I believe your car won't start without it. Or just pull the engine fuse. It's easier and works better, because if the guy finds the kill switch he'll trun it on, but if he does not have a fuse, then he can't do $h!t.

people are over thinking this .... if you have a push button start stop switch, just buy another start stop switch, install it somewhere else hidden away, unplug the original, which is now not functional and a dummy switch, then wire up the new switch. Extending the wires should be easy, either by soldering, or an extension male female dongle. Thieves will waste their time wondering why rhe button doesn't work, whether they make a key fob or not.
to start the car, you use the newly located hidden button.

Re: Help me install a kill switch (2000 Z28)

But, the 2000 Camaro does not have a "push button start stop switch", it has the old fashioned "ignition key lock cylinder".

Hopefully he got it figured out in the 20 years since he posted this in 2003..
