Has anyone tried this bolt on air scoop?

Has anyone tried this bolt on air scoop from www.ultimatescoop.com? If so, what is your opinion as to actual power gains?

Thanks for any comments!

$89, it's a cheap ram air kit. First off I don't even recommend ram air. Even if you were to want that still, you should get something like the SLP ram air kit or fast toys ram air kit. They would direct more air in. With that one you mention in the topic a lot of the air would just slip through into the radiator. The other kits have a much longer metal piece.

I don't think ram air is worth it because it gets the air filter very dirty. Then you have to clean it (if it's a k&n style filter) and if you don't clean it, your losing hp. The hp gain from ram air is really small and only exists when you are going fast.

I have a feeling superfast1040 signed up to do more promotion than to actually gather information about this.

Correct me if I am wrong...

By looking at the picture, it seems to me that you bolt this on in place of the airdam. The airdam is the lowest point on the car. Once in awhile I scrape this. It seems to me that this being made of metal would get crunched immediately. I run the SSRA with a scoop under the bumper. The airdam sits 4 inches off the ground. The SSRA is 7 1/2 inches off the ground.
The ultimate scoop doesn't directly force air into the filter. It seems like it would be a quick $89 bucks thrown out the window.

Thanks for your comments. I just bought an '02 and am looking for a few cheap ways to add power. I saw an ad for that scoop in hotrod magazine and I was curious.

Welcome to this site. You will enjoy it here.

We have the Austin Ram Air (formerly known as the Super Sucker) which has been proven to add approximately 13 rear-wheel horsepower.

Many people here use it and like it a lot, nothing but good reviews about it.

Right now, shipping on it is free until the end of the month so you might consider that one.

Yeah, that peice looked real cheesy.. Simple bends on it..

I also hate gains posted that have no merit to them... No timeslips were shown..
For testing something like that, I would expect 10 autos to run 3 times, then have the mod put on then run 3 times again.. average each car and see if there was a gain.

but no one ever goes through that trouble..
ohh well.
