Post Good High Flow CAT?

I am considering an aftermarket Y-pipe and cat-back. I like to look and price of the SLP, but I don't want to pay $400 for cats. Would I be better of buying one big cat to put after the y-pipe or two small ones like the stock setup?

Also your opinions on which cats are best.

I'm not sure about which cats flow the best, but I'm pretty sure that if you go to one cat or relocate the dual cats you won't pass a visual inspection in most states. No use in even having cats is you don't pass it.
