GM's LS1 Hot Cam Kit

Is it worth it for the money? Or should I spend a little more on a bigger cam? I am doing longtube headers, and I figure while I have the car apart I might as well do a little extra. I was also going to invest in a set of hardened pushrods, and probably upgrade my oil pump. As far as the rockers go, should I leave the stock ones or replace them? I've heard stories about them coming apart and getting needle bearings all through the engine, or am I being overly paranoid? I don't race the car, nor do I beat the **** out of it, I just want a little more *** out of it.

FutralMotorSports is having a cam special, dunno if I'm allowed to post a link but I just bought a cam today. If you give them a call they can tell you all about it and you can see if you are interested

I would reccomend the hotcam. But I would also say look for a used one. I got mine w/ springs and retainers for $200 shipped. Just be sure to have everything checked at a machine shop before install. Hard to beat the power/dollar with that. Sounds great with my pacesetter headers too(would reccomend these also).

I like my Comp Cam its a 224/228 with a 581/589 lift on a 112LSA, I wish I went with a bigger duration but for everyday driving thats big enough, I pick up 50RWHP and I believe 38RWTQ anyway that with running LT and y-pipe and a loudmouth, now it makes it power at 4,000-6,000RPMs I have a 6speed ans off the line it might not be to Badass, but for just a Cam car when I hit 2nd going into 3rd It's like hitting the juices forget it it pulls like a BITCH while everyone else is shifting at 5500 I'm thinking about dinner as their looking at my tail lights its a good cam, my friend on the other hand has a 6speed with true duals and dynos 355 without a cam , and is going with a cam so he should be up to 400 RWHP with just a cam. that goes to show how much these cars like tl breath! Now i'm takeing off my loudmouth and going with the SLP center mounted Dual/Dual exhaust that came on a few 2002 SS One reason I like the way it looks, Sec. I tired of my car being so damn Lound! and I'm not a trackhound, so I might drop a few ponies who cares, Its still faster then those F@$king Imports with their Fart pipes out their Peace my Fellow F_Bodies

Thanks for the sound clips! Definitely sounds pretty bad ***. Should I bother to change the pushrods? I don't plan on revving the **** out of it, but should I for cheap insurance?

Hey Mike,
Here's a Hot Cam for sale for $120.

BTW, I went with the TR224. I got a decent deal on the whole kit thru the shop that's building the motor.

Thanks Matt! Let me know when you get the motor back, we can see if these headers will clear your frame!
