Found problem causing noise and a ?

My car has 21,000 miles on it, runs great. Then the other day heard a rattling, thought it was a heat shield or exhaust clamp. So I get it looked at and it turns out an inner-casing inside a pipe (after the y-pipe) is loose. Anyone had this problem and why did this happen so early with such a new car? I'm curious to know how long this will take to be fixed, i'm taking it to the dealership since its under warranty. Another problem I just heard yesterday is when I'm going about 40ish if I have my windows down I can hear a high, i mean high pitched wine like "weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" it is hardly audible. This happens when i'm in 4th gear around 2,000 rpms and goes away below and/or above that rpm. Anyone have a clue about this? My car is going to the dealership tomorrow so i'm trying to have as much input on these problems before i go.

Thanks everyone

The whinning sounds like usually trans whine. I have it at certain RPMs my self. I wouldnt worry about it. Borg Warner trannys are know for being loud clunky transmissions in general and they all seem to develop their own induvidual audible character in addition to the usual soudn that develop over time.
